How do I recognize a phishing email?

“Phishing” is when a scammer sends fake emails, which appear to come from well-known companies like vidaXL. They try and obtain personal information such as your password, bank, or credit card information. For example, a fraudulent email could be sent as a survey, competition, or social media post. The aim is to trick you into visiting a fake website or submitting your personal details through an unsecured site.

 

It might be a phishing email when…

• The message asks for personal information like your bank or payment details, username, or password.

• The sender’s email address looks suspicious.
